Atlantis ILIO USX pools and optimizes server RAM, SAS, and/or Flash to create a highly scalable, hyper-converged platform using existing servers. Atlantis ILIO USX provides the flexibility to pool commodity local storage with RAM and/or flash across multiple server farms. By doing so, customers can seamlessly scale out their architecture to create a hyper-converged infrastructure and manage their applications without having to rip out their existing infrastructure.
Atlantis ILIO USX uses server RAM or flash in combination with optimizations including IO processing, inline deduplication, compression and coalescing to accelerate any existing SAN or NAS storage and dynamically create the equivalent of an enterprise-class hybrid storage array without purchasing any additional hardware. The RAM or flash memory layer acts as an accelerator for the back-end capacity pool created from shared storage. By simply combining a small amount of RAM or flash into a performance pool with the SAN/NAS capacity pool, customers can achieve hybrid-array performance and reduce the storage capacity consumed on their SAN/NAS. Atlantis ILIO USX extends SAN or NAS storage to deliver performance to support any application across the datacenter.
Atlantis ILIO USX pools and optimizes all-flash arrays to support up to 5 times more VMs per terabyte. The Atlantis ILIO IO optimization technology also offloads writes from the flash arrays; extending the life of the SSDs inside the array.
Atlantis ILIO USX pools multiple all-flash arrays and applies inline deduplication and compression at the compute layer to extend the capacity and increase utilization of the all-flash arrays. Atlantis ILIO USX extends All-Flash arrays to deliver capacity to support any application across the datacenter.
Atlantis ILIO USX unique In-Memory Storage Technology uses server RAM in combination with optimizations such as inline deduplication and compression to present applications with a cost-effective RAM-based storage tier that provides significant performance benefits for any server application or VM. Atlantis ILIO USX optimization will decrease latency and amplify the capacity of server RAM by up to 5 times. In addition, Atlantis ILIO USX provides management, high-availability, cloning and provisioning functionality for these In-Memory storage volumes. Policy-based controls allow customers to choose the level of redundancy and high-availability to meet the service level agreements for their applications.
Atlantis ILIO USX pools local server RAM, flash or “Flash on DIMM” resources across multiple servers to create a high-performance In-Memory storage volume that can be used as primary storage. Data is protected by replicating it between multiple hosts and, optionally, to shared storage in a capacity pool.
Atlantis ILIO USX is deployed automatically as a set of VMs on the hypervisor layer that run alongside the server application VMs. Applications connect to Atlantis ILIO USX either through a standard datastore presented to the hypervisor or, for non-virtualized applications, directly to the storage volume presented by Atlantis ILIO USX over the network. In both cases, the storage volume is presented over NFS or iSCSI, preserving existing provisioning and management workflows. Atlantis ILIO USX Fast Clone provides the capability to instantly provision VMs in seconds. Atlantis ILIO USX management and data services seamlessly integrate into existing management and orchestration systems using REST APIs to automate and accelerate deployments.
Atlantis ILIO USX integrates seamlessly with the hypervisor platform to create an inventory of the available resources in the datacenter, aggregate them into pools of storage resources and then create the optimal type of storage volume for each application and VM:
Atlantis ILIO USX has integrated High Availability and data protection at each layer of the solution. Atlantis ILIO USX storage volumes have active-active high availability that is comparable to dual controllers on physical storage to ensure that IT organizations can meet their recovery time objectives. At the pooling and aggregation layer, Atlantis ILIO USX provides data protection using proven techniques equivalent to different levels of RAID in a physical storage system. Both HA and data protection are highly configurable for each storage volume and pool of aggregated resources to ensure that IT organizations can deliver the appropriate level of data.
Atlantis ILIO USX was purpose-built for the Software-Defined Data Center by exposing management, datastore creation and monitoring functions to existing provisioning and orchestrations systems through REST APIs. This enables orchestration systems such as VMware vCloud Automation Center, Open Stack, IBM SmartCloud and custom-built provisioning systems to integrate Atlantis ILIO USX into the workflow of storage and VM provisioning.
